Here is the condensed program of the 3 training sessions:
1st course May 9, 2025 12pm -2PM (PDT) 3PM-5PM (EDT).
This course will focus on the various aspects to consider before the distillation of a hydrosol, namely:
– Definitions, what is a hydrosol, what is not a hydrosol.
– Distilled plants, some important notions of botany, cultivation vs. wild harvesting, harvest period, preparation of plant matter.
– The still, manufacturing materials, influence of design.
– Setting up a workspace specific to the distillation of hydrosols.
2nd Course May 16, 2025 12pm -2PM (PDT) 3PM-5PM (EDT).
In this course, we will discuss the main aspects related to the distillation of hydrosols and in particular:
– Sterilization and preparation of the material.
– Handling of the plant material and loading of the still.
– The different distillation techniques, advantages and disadvantages on the quality of hydrosols.
– Influence of some distillation parameters such as the flow rate, temperature or duration of distillation on the quality/composition of a hydrosol.
– Separation essential oil and hydrosol recovery.
3rd Course May 23, 2025 12pm -2PM (PDT) 3PM-5PM (EDT).
This course will focus on the various aspects to be considered just after the distillation of a hydrosol, namely:
– Conservation.
– Bottling and labeling.
– Analysis (chemical composition, microbiology, heavy metals).
– Evolution over time of a hydrosol.
– Shelf Life of a hydrosol and what it means.
